The honest room-rent checklist
- Price it from data: a fair room share ≈ half the area's 2BHK median. Over that, you're subsidising a flatmate's master bedroom.
- Deposit, split in writing: room deposits run 1–2 months; note each occupant's share and the exit settlement formula before money moves (the deposit guide covers the structure).
- Meter and receipts: shared flats live or die on bills — photograph meters on day one, keep a payment trail (free receipts).
